Over three Wednesday evenings, artists ages 7 to 14 will create one of the most unique art objects they have ever made — a handcrafted explosion book that unfolds into a stunning series of square and triangular pages, each one bursting with color and texture.
Here is how it unfolds:
Day 1 — September 16th
We begin with pure creative play. Students will explore color, collage, paint, and mixed media — layering textures and building a rich, expressive abstract artwork that becomes the heart of the entire project.
Day 2 — September 23rd
The real magic begins. Students will cut their artwork into precise squares and triangles and learn the origami folding techniques that transform flat paper into a book that literally explodes open.
Day 3 — September 30th
We bring it all together — assembling the final book, adding metallic pen details, ribbon, and finishing touches that make each piece completely one of a kind.
No experience necessary. All materials provided.
Every student leaves with a finished explosion book that is equal parts artwork and treasure.
